"The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World" by Gabrial Garcia (Columbia)

I didn't think that the story really reflected the region where it was from other than all the villages were really close together and there was no room for anything. It wasn't really pretty, no flowers, and when something dramatic happened ehm ehm such as finding a drowned man, everyone knew about it right away. Kind of like how Veritas is....

Journal topic: Well when I die, I hope I'm like 1OO years old or something because I don't plan on dying any time soon! But if I did my funeral I hope it would be fairly big considering how many friends & family I have that hopefully love me!? I'd just want a funeral where everyone can see me one last time & I'd want them to bury me with my teddy bear that I've had since 1st grd. I haven't been to many funerals maybe about 5 or 6, my funeral probably would be the same as others because there's not much you can do at a funeral but pray & say goodbyes. It's not like you'll be playing games or anything like that, you grieve & be sad. It seems Latin America's attitude toward death is kind of joyous & they don't get all sad about it, they are happy and take care of the dead like a human being.

No Dogs Bark By: Juan Rulfo (Mexico)

What this literature says about this region where No Dogs Bark is from, is saying that the parents are loving and caring but they are strict. When it comes down to it, your parent is going to try and not stop for anything until you are taken care of. This literature says that when your in need, your parent will be there. Just like the dad in the story, he carried his son so he could get medical attention! To me, it doesn't really reflect what this literature says about Mexico, it more reflects what kind of parent you should be.

Journal: The kind of parent I'd be is stirct definitley. I dont want my kids to be the ones on the news you hear about shooting each other. I'd give them the love and care they'd need, I'd probably smuther my children with too much love but hey, we'll see when I have kids. I will deal with my teenage son or daughter by if their bad, they're punished, if they're good they're either rewarded or sent to their room with a pat on that back HAHA. If they misbehave, they're in for it. I'm serious they will be smacked and grounded until I say they are un-grounded. To solve the problem though, I'll try and talk to them the best way I could, I mean I went through ALOT so I can relate to whatever she is going through, and if I have a tennage boy, then the daddy will be dealing with that, their horomones are TOOO crazy ! Every parent is different so I don't think I'd be similar to Igancio's father, I might, but I honestly can not predict now.
